We’re having a bit of luck at the moment. 3-0 flattered us against Barnsley, and today, we were lucky to win. But…’You make your own luck.’ Apparently. We didn’t deserve to lose, and on another day we probably would have done - for instance, if this had been played this time last year, we’d have been turned over. Just one of those days…keep them coming.

Coventry 3-0 Barnsley…expected really?

This is my first post for ages. I have been going to games; Watford was brilliant, Derby was great because it meant Robbie Savage went home disappointed (hate him so much…), Preston was frustrating, Bristol was a good win, and Barnsley was nervy, but in the end, we were always going to beat them. 8 wins and 1 draw in 9 games since they got promoted, I believe. Not bad.

Fail.

Coventry 0-4 Watford.

Shocking end to a, pre last 10 games, good season. Had the City picked up even 3 wins from the last 10 games, it would’ve been a top half finish I believe. But yet again, the players couldn’t care less. Nice one lads. Nice one.

Five minutes injury time? I wanna go home…

It really was that sort of game at the Ricoh today, as the midtable titans of Preston visited the lower midtable demons of Coventry. Or rather, two distinctly mediocre sides played out a very poor match, in which the referee didn’t have a clue what’s going on. You know he’s had a bad game when both sets of fans have ironically applauded him for actually making a correct decision.

Shocking.

End of season form has let the Sky Blues again. I’m glad that it looks unlikely that any of the clubs below 17th place are capable of winning, but still. After the Peterborough game, the City were challenging for the play offs. Now? Well…finish above 20th?

I hate officials.

Good starters, bad finishers. To the extreme.

That title, to me, is Coventry City Football Team. It always seems as if Coventry are top come the middle of August, then comes a run of two or three defeats in a row, then it settles down…and inevitabely, with awful late season form, a drift down the table.

Who needs Leon Best when we’ve got Jon Stead? It really is a very good question. He works harder than Best, knows the offside rule, and compliments Morrison very well. And luckily for us Sky Blues fans, he knew where the back of the net was on Saturday, with a really excellent finish to continue the City’s superb run.

That was one bad ref.

I’m not sure if I’ll write a blog on this. I’ll probably forget. But I’ll cut to the chase…the referee was shocking. I’m not blaming him for the defeat, we would’ve lost anyway. But at 2-1 down he sends Barnett off and gives a penalty for what looked like a fair challenge (although, in his defence, to me it seemed as if the linesman gave the decision). He also booked the excellent Aron Gunnarson for nothing, and even my West Ham-supporting father said he was a rubbish ref.

We won. We didn’t play well but we won. And isn’t that, supposedly, what makes the best sides? You’d hope so, but then you look at the stats and you see how poor we were; 37% to 63% possession in QPR’s favour. 10 shots to 4 in QPR’s favour. 9 corners to 2 in QPR’s favour. Those stats are right. Not sure if my use of the apostrophe is. I hope it is.

Surely those stats indicate we defended well? Hmm. We were nervous at the back, but we were nervous all over the pitch except for that man again, Keiren Westwood, who pulled off another world class save right at the death to give us victory.
